Scheduling

Everyone that I talk to on campus is always stressed out when it comes time for scheduling.  It is a stressful process for everyone.  A day or two before scheduling everyone looks at the classes they need and see the amount of seats left open.  The next day when it is time to schedule the class is closed.  Then it is all about running around to the professors trying to get written into classes.  I think something needs to be done about this, so everyone can get the classes they need for the next semester.

  1. I agree. It's practically impossible to get the classes you need and forget about getting the classes you want. Also is it really that hard for teachers to add one person in? I get it that they can't add a ton. But, would it kill them to add one?

  2. Scheduling is more stressful for me than finals week. The last two semester i've only had 6 and 9 credits respectively after scheduling because everything else i needed was closed. I then spend the next day or two running around trying to get written while being stressed out of my mind. It is a royal pain in the butt. I understand slippery rock does there best to help but it does seem like something could be done to help us out or make it easier.

  3. Being a transfer and coming from a school were the coaches scheduled for us this was very interesting. I thought it was very challenging and had multiple problems with it. It was also tough to try and get some of the classes I really needed. I need a math class for the spring and I cant get a class because they are all full. It is tough and I agree I feel they should be able to add one or two students. Overall it was very challenging and I am not looking forward to it.

  4. I need a math class too for the spring. As soon as it was my time to schedule I went straight to the math classes and all of the ones I wanted or needed were gone. Im on a sports team so we get to even schedule sometimes before a lot of other students and still cant get into certain classes we need. I think they should think about maybe having one or two more times alloted for math classes as so many phys ed majors need them for the college of Ed.

  5. This is so true! Scheduling is a complete nightmare at SRU. I don't know if other campuses have this problem or what even they can do to fix it but something needs to be done. I honestly would rather they scheduled classes for me than to put up with all the crazy waiting for spots - to open and stressing out game! Also meetings with advisors are tough to schedule too, and should be optional! It's too much!

  6. I hate scheduling. Classes always close, and you have to rearrange your schedule to make sure classes fit in. Professors also don't seem to like to write people into classes. I've been written into a few classes, but it's always hectic trying to get it signed and turned in. I wish the classes could be larger, especially Physical Education classes!
