I believe in a PE class a pedometer should be used regularly. This puts pressure on the students to be more active in class. Knowing they have to reach a goal for steps during class students will then try harder. Having students wear pedometers and set a goal for them at the beginning of class will help the class be more active and exciting. The students will do more in class knowing participation points come from reaching the goals set by the teacher.
I think using Pedometers and HRM are a great way of incorporating technology in PE classes. The only problem with this type of technology is the fact that it all costs money. The teacher would either have to get a grant to pay for it or have the students pay for them. Even when buying in bulk to get a discount they still cost quite a bit.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Nick, the cost of these equipment would be the one main thing that would get in the way of schools getting to use them. When I was first introduced to them here in Slippery Rock I suddenly thought these would really work in schools in Ireland. The only thing that stands in the way is the cost, its always the case.
